Nicola’s Speech

A Day has been a very special day for me and I am delighted that we could all join each other to celebrate at our A Day party!!

To recap, A-Day was a special day because that was when all the old pension rules and paraphernalia disappeared (300 pages) and the new one size fits all simplification (1000 pages) came into effect.

As you are all aware, my main stream and specialist subject area is pensions. And as this is neither Mastermind nor Question Time I am not taking any questions.

I thank you all very much for coming this evening and I do hope you have lots of fun and get to meet other clients of Trentham who perhaps you haven’t met before.

But before you all let more of your hair down, there are some people I would like to personally introduce you to today without whom Trentham wouldn’t be the budding success it is thus far.

Firstly, I thank my Mam in believing in me and supporting me through my career. It is through her tragedy of losing her husband, when my twin sister Natalie and I were just 2 months old, that drives me to do the job I do.

Secondly, Vicki, Trentham Invest Practice Manager, who made a brave move to join Trentham Invest 6 months ago. She has played an integral part in the development of Trentham enabling the business to take it’s second major step. For those of you who have had contact with Vicki I am sure you will join me in thanking her for the excellent support and client care she provides to us all.

Thirdly, but not least, to my dear twin sister, Natalie, for her tremendous art work to the mole. A talking point for every client.

But my biggest thank you goes to all of Trentham Invest clients…

Trentham was born 3 years ago, 14th April 2003 when I had my first meeting with the local business community.

It was my vision to create a company that provided the best service, the best financial advice to people who really needed it.

After all I had passed some of the toughest financial exams in the country and I wasn’t about to let that go to waste. I knew I had something special that I could share with people like you, to ensure that your futures are best catered for and that, when faced with very difficult times in your lives (example Arthur), at least my clients and I know that I have ensured some of their wishes have been fulfilled: that their loved ones are secure in their own lives and their futures.

It is at this time I would like to share a few minutes of Arthur’s story.

Pat’s husband, Arthur, was waiting to retire, after we had re-organised all his pension plans into plain English.

Sadly, Arthur passed away suddenly 27th January this year. Pat has been faced with her worst nightmare but with the financial help and support from Trentham Invest, I am very proud to say that she is more financially aware than she has ever been.

I am certain that Arthur would be happy to know that she is in good hands.

Trentham Invest would like to say how proud we are; the way you have coped through this difficult time and the progress you have made over the last few months.

So there I was, armed with the best industry knowledge I could have (well, almost!). Like a farmer with the best fields in the land, I had all the potential of nurturing, cultivating and harvesting the best returns……but, like the farmer without seeds, I had no clients.

Now, a farmer with the best land in the country but who has no seeds, needs seeds to prosper.

But with the best land, would he want just any old seeds? Surely not. Surely he would want the best seeds so that together, his land and the seeds would produce the most luscious, long lasting, nutritious crop.

And that’s what I set out to do 3 years ago. I recognised that, with my highly specialised knowledge I didn’t just want any old bunch of seeds to be offered the opportunity of some of the best knowledge in the market! (I bet you’ve never been called an old bunch of seeds before, have you??)

And that’s why Trentham is so very special, because with all of you and with me, we have the best combination for our futures.

My heartfelt thanks to you all for your custom, your loyalty and your belief in me.
